Educational Background
Professor Labode Popoola obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Ibadan in 1984 and a master’s degree in Forest Economics and Management in 1987 from the same university.

Professor Popoola received the doctor of philosophy in Forest Economics in 1990 from the University of Ibadan.
In 2002, Professor Labode Popoola became a professor of Forest Economics.
Career
Professor Labode Popoola started his career as a graduate assistant at University of Ibadan in 1988.
In 1997, Professor Popoola became a senior lecturer and later rose in rank to become a professor in 2002.

Between 2005 and 2006, he served briefly as the Head of Department of Forest Resources Management at the University of Ibadan.
In 2006, Professor Popoola was appointed the Dean of Postgraduate school, University of Ibadan and later the Director for the Centre for Sustainable Development for University of Ibadan in 2010.
Professor Labode Popoola contributed to the curriculum for teaching Forest management in Nigerian universities.
He has also worked as an external examiner in several institutions and universities including Federal College of Forestry in Ibadan, Federal college of Forest Merchanization in Kaduna, University of Uyo, Enugu State University, Federal University of Technology in Akure, Abeokuta, Markudi and in Yola, University College, Dublin, Ireland, UK.
