South East Youth Leaders Congratulate Uche Ogah For Emerging Abia APC Guber Candidate

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, the umbrella body of all the youth groups in the South East geopolitical zone has congratulated the former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah on his landslide victory as the just concluded Abia State APC gubernatorial primaries which they described as “very transparent”.
The group said “As youth leaders of the zone saddled with the responsibility of protecting the collective interest of our people at all times, we were really impressed by the APC gubernatorial primaries that produce Dr Uche Ogah as winner.”
The organisation in a statement signed by their President General, Hon. Goodluck Ibem said “It was truly a very transparent exercise by all standard. The party delegates and party faithfuls who took path in the primaries conducted themselves in a very good manner and we are really impressed with was we saw.
“Standing firm on due process of all the confusions following the political confusion that’s leading to primary electoral crisis in the nation. Abia State being the first state by alphabetical order showed a good example of how things should be done to avoid any legal battle in the future. The immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah was declared winner of Abia State APC governorship primary election. In one of the most perfectly organized gubernatorial primaries in the history of the nation.
“There was no room for monetary inducement as the NEC of APC gave a directive that the power to elect the governorship candidate of the party be thrown to the people.
“Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah’s victory of the direct primary election which took place in the 184 wards in the 17 local government areas of the state threw the people to shout for joy as the returning officer, Barr. Perfect Okorie declared him winner.
“Out of the total of 195,801 votes cast, the former Minister polled 141,952 votes to beat his closest rival, Paul Ikonne who got 27,054.
“Though we are non-partisan in all sense of word, our interest is hang on the fact that the people were given the opportunity to elect anybody aspirant of their choice without any molestation or coercion . Democracy was truly practiced.
“Of a truth, the outcome of the election is a reflection of the total will of the party faithfuls and Abians.
“The electoral amendment process that has been causing confusion could have been settled if other states had taken the APC example in Abia.
“People like Uche Ogah, the President of Master Energy who has established a multiple investments in the state that’s worth hundreds of billions are the type of people we should look beyond party affiliation and encourage into leadership. The path others preach and promised he have shown by good example.
“Uche Ogah’s victory gives a massive hope to the political process. It’s a big victory for democracy.
“We Congratulate Uche Ogah on his landslide victory and we want him to know that his victory at the primary is victory for all Abians,” the statement issued on Friday.
