Kenneth Okonkwo is a well-known Nigerian Actor, Film producer, Lawyer, and Politician. He has been in the film industry for over three decades and he gained fame playing romance and ritual roles, making him one of the country’s most sought-after actors.

He was born November 6th, 1968 to his parents Mr. Ozioko Francis Okonkwo and Mrs. Beatrice Okonkwo. The actor is married and blessed with kids and has won several awards in the movie industry. He started his political career in 2014 when he contested for the House of Representatives member seat to represent Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency under the People’s Democratic Party.

He later expressed his desire to run for the gubernatorial seat of Enugu State under the All People’s Congress (APC)  in 2019 but left for the Labour party saying he joined to help enthrone good governance and achieve a New Nigeria. He said the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is the symbol of the new Nigeria and indulges Nigerians to vote for him.

Educational Background

After his Primary and Secondary school education, Kenneth Okonkwo proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in Enugu State where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He studied at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and obtains a Masters’s Degree in International Law and Diplomacy. After obtaining his Masters’s Degree from the University of Lagos and graduating from Law School in Abuja, he was called to the bar as a Legal Practitioner. Kenneth Okonkwo went further to study Theology at the Nigerian Bible School and was trained as a bible scholar and Minister of God.

Out of Kenneth Okonkwo’s passion for acting he quit his profession and decided to pursue a career in the Nigerian movie industry. Kenneth, Okonkwo has been in the Nigerian film industry. Nollywood, for over three decades. He made his debut playing Captain John Mark in the soap opera “Ripples.” He gained recognition in the hit film “Living In Bondage.”

Okonkwo has since starred in several hit films movies and has appeared in more than 250 movies, making him well-known. His 27-year career has given not just Nigeria but all of Africa a lot of entertainment. Kenneth Okonkwo started his career as an actor in 1991. Kenneth Okonkwo is one of the pioneers of Nollywood.

He started his political career in 2014 when he contested for the House of Representatives member seat to represent Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Personal Life

Kenneth Okonkwo was born on 6th November 1965 in Nsukka, Enugu State to Mr. Ozioko Francis Okonkwo and Mrs. Beatrice Okonkwo in a refugee camp where his parents stayed after the Biafran war. He and his family remained in Nsukka, Enugu State, where he was raised. There is not a lot of information about his parents and siblings.

In 2000 Kenneth Okonkwo was first married to Ogechi Ezekiel. Ogechi is a Pastor’s daughter, of the then General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission International. Their union was blessed with the birth of a son named Ifeanyi. The couple split in 2002, two years after their marriage. He is now married to Ifeoma Okonkwo and they are blessed with a Son called Kenechukwu.
