Educational Background

Agbu Kefas went to the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Defense Studies in 1994. Then he furthered to the University of Ibadan in Oyo State, where he bagged a Masters’s Degree in Legal Criminology & Security Psychology in 2005 and the Delta State University, Abraka where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Administration in 2008. Agbu Kefas is a Nigerian politician, retired Nigerian army lieutenant colonel, and the former PDP state chairman, of Taraba State. He is the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Taraba State for the 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections. Agbu Kefas retired from the Nigerian army after 21 years of service.

Upon his retirement, he was appointed chairman Governing board of directors Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency between 2013 and 2015. He was also a member of the Presidential Committee on North-East Initiative, from 2016 to 2019 before he fully joined politics by emerging as the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Taraba State in 2020.

He contested in the Taraba State PDP gubernatorial primary election in 2022 and won. He is presently the party’s governorship candidate for the 2023 election.

Controversies

Agbu Kefas who won the Taraba State governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was issued the certificate of return when the Supreme Court affirmed him as the governorship candidate, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State for the March 11 governorship election.

After they dismissed two different suits challenging the eligibility of Kefas Agbu to contest the governorship primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Taraba state. The petition brought before the court by Professor Jerome Nyameh challenged the Taraba State governorship primary election and Agbu Kefas won in court as the flagbearer of the PDP party.
