Abdul-Aziz Nyako was enrolled in several nursery and primary schools from 1970 to 1981, due to his father’s military engagements, he completed part of his primary education in the United Kingdom from 1978 to 1981.

Then in 1985 he found stability and spent five years at the Air Force Military School in Jos and in 1990 he enrolled in the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) where he received a B Sc. in Chemistry.

Abdul-Aziz Nyako went back to the UK and trained at the Britannia Royal Naval College (Dartmouth), where he was subsequently commissioned as a Sublieutenant in 1992. Upon his return back to Nigeria that same year, Abdul-Aziz withdrew his commission and re-enrolled in the NDA.

Abdul-Aziz Nyako started his career by holding several commanding roles as a Naval Officer in the Nigerian Navy, spending some of his active service time in Liberia during the Second Liberian War. He left the Military in 2010 as he was on course to be promoted to Captain.

After leaving the military, Nyako went back to Adamawa state where he became deeply engrossed in bringing development to the grassroots in his independent development program, which included the local apprenticeship scheme, farmer skill acquisition program, and the advancement of vocational and technical training centers. 

He was elected senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who represents Adamawa central in the 8th National Assembly and is also the chairman of the Special Duties Committee of the 8th National Assembly.

In 2012, the Lamido Adamawa appointed Abdul-Aziz the Sarki Matassa Adamawa. In this role, he acted as the Chief Security Advisor of the Lamido Adamawa and was also responsible for the empowerment and cultural re-orientation of the youth and the encouragement of female participation in public service.

In 2013, Abdul-Aziz joined the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) thereby announcing his political ambitions. Nyako joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) following its formation in 2014 and played a major part in its adoption and solidification in Adamawa state.

He contested in the 2015 general elections for the senatorial position of Adamawa Central Senatorial District and emerged winner, thereby making his debut appearance at the National Assembly.

In the recent 2023 elections, Abdul-Aziz Nyako lost to Aminu Iya Abbas who is of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Abba was declared the winner of the Adamawa Central senatorial election, ahead of Abdul-Aziz Nyako.

Abdul-Aziz Nyako and his father appeared before Justice E. Chukwu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on a 37-count charge hemming on criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office, and money laundering. The detective with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), said they are involved in fraud and other crimes.

During the investigation of the N29bn fraud case involving Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako and his father the former Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, it was claimed that a lot of people who spoke up mysteriously died. But both of them pleaded not guilty to the 37-count charges.
