Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe is a politician and a newly inaugurated member of the Senate in Nigeria’s 9th National Assembly representing Cross-river North. He was a member of the  House of Representatives 8th and 9th National Assembly representing the Ogoja/Yala federal constituency before his election into the senate.

Jarigbe Agom was elected into the Green Chamber in 2015 and has served for his second term in office, he contested and won as the successor of Senator Rose Oko, and he is now serving as a Senator representing Cross-river north. In 2020 he contested and won the Cross River North Senatorial bye-election. However, it was given to another candidate.

In 2021, the Supreme Court judgment in his favor and upheld him as the Senator elect for Cross River North. He was born on December 9th, 1970, he is an indigene of ibil, in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State. Jarigbe Agom got married to Fifi Jarigbe on September 9th, 2006. They have four children two boys and two girls.

Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe did his secondary in the School of Basic studies in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, and finished in 1990. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Calabar, Cross River State in 2004 and he also studied Law.

Career

Agom Jarigbe is a politician, and is currently a member of the Senate in Nigeria’s 9th National Assembly representing Cross River North and was a member of the House of Representatives in the 8th and 9th National Assembly representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.

Jarigbe Agom worked as the Managing Director of Laja Enterprises Limited. As a politician, he served as a member of the executive committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State. He was also appointed the Chairman, of Sure-P in Cross River State.

In 2015, Hon. Agom was elected under the platform of the PDP to represent the Ogoji/Yala Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives. His legislative interest includes the oil & gas sector, and public account as a member of the tertiary education and services committee.

Controversies

Jarigbe Agom was alleged to always rig elections and tried to steal the people’s mandate. He was taken to court but the Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar reinstated Jarigbe Agom as Senator-elect for Cross River North during the period.
