Educational Background
Lasmid attended a primary school in a village near Dunkwao, where he repeated a grade. He then transferred to a city school but repeated once again. Finally, at Wasa Akropong Primary School, he repeated for the last time due to what he referred to as having a “child’s brain.” Despite these challenges, he made significant efforts to avoid repeating Primary 6 and completed both his primary and junior high school education at Wasa Akropong.
Career
Lasmid’s career in the music industry began when he participated in the MTN Hitmaker competition in 2019. He emerged as the winner of the eighth season of the competition, earning him a recording contract worth GH₵120,000 and a black Anibisa headset provided by MTN Pulse. Following his victory, Lasmid caught the attention of Ghanaian music producer Kaywa, who signed him to his record label, Highly Spiritual Music.
Under the label, Lasmid has focused on creating music in various genres, including rap, highlife, and afrobeat. Throughout his career, Lasmid has collaborated with several notable artists in the Ghanaian music industry. He has worked on songs with renowned musicians such as Sarkodie, Medikal, Kofi Kinaata, Dead Peepol, Mr Drew, Kuami Eugene, and Amerado. One of Lasmid’s breakthrough tracks is “Friday Night,” which gained significant attention in Ghana and topped the charts after becoming a popular trend on TikTok.
The song showcased his talent and helped establish him as a rising star in the music industry. In 2023, Lasmid was nominated for the Vodafone Ghana Music Award in the categories of Best New Artist, Best Hiplife Song (for “Friday Night”), and Most Popular Song of the Year (also for “Friday Night”). It’s worth mentioning that as of my last knowledge update in September 2021, there is no information available about Lasmid’s career beyond this point. Controversies
On July 17, 2022, during an exclusive interview on TV3 with Deloris Frimpong Manso, known as Delay, Lasmid revealed that he had repeated primary school three times before progressing to junior high. He attributed these repetitions to his parent’s divorce, which he became aware of before the age of seven.
