|The Senate President is the presiding officer of the Nigerian Senate and is elected by the members of the Senate. The Senate President is responsible for leading the Senate’s proceedings and ensuring that the Senate functions effectively.
The first senate president of the Nigerian Senate since independence is Nnamdi Azikiwe while Nwafor Orizu is the first Senate president since Nigeria became a republic. Thus far Nigeria has had 16 senate presidents. Here are a list of Nigerian Senate presidents from 1960 till date.
