Augustine Ojunekwu Avuru is a Nigerian geologist, businessman and administrator. He is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Platform Petroleum Limited and Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc.Augustine Avuru was born on August 17, 1958 in Abbi, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Augustine Avuru attended Orogun Grammar School for his secondary education.
He obtained a degree in geology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1980.

Augustine Avuru attended the NNPC comprehensive training at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Warri where he emerged as the best graduating student in 1983.
In 2018, Augustine Avuru obtained an Honourary Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Career
Augustine Avuru started his career as a Youth Corper with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He was a well site geologist with NNPC.
In 1987, he became NNPC’s pioneer 3-D Seismic interpreters and participant in one of Chevron’s largest 3-D interpretation project

In 1992, Augustine Avuru resigned from NNPC to join Allied Energy Resources, an indigenous deep-water operator as an exploration manager. He rose in ranks to become the deputy COO.
Augustine Avuru started Platform Petroleum Limited, a Marginal Field development Company.
In 2007, Platform became the first, among the 24 marginal fields awarded in 2004, to bring her field to production.
Platform Petroleum and Shebah Exploration and Production partnered to set up Seplat; an OMLs 4, 38 and 41 through an SPV.
In 2010, Augustine Avuru became the pioneer CEO. He was the president of Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE)
