Scott Brown served in the United States Army and the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1979 to 2014, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He worked in various legal positions, including as a practicing attorney.
Brown’s political career began in Massachusetts. He served as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1998 to 2004 and then as a member of the Massachusetts State Senate from 2004 to 2010. In 2010, Brown won a special election to become the United States Senator for Massachusetts, making him the first Republican to hold the seat since 1972. He served in the Senate from February 2010 to January 2013.
