Fufeyin is primarily known for his role as the founder and head prophet of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry (CMDM) in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. He established this ministry in 2010. As a televangelist minister, he leads his congregation in spiritual teachings, prayer sessions, and deliverance services, which are often broadcasted on television and online platforms.
Fufeyin’s career also includes a strong focus on philanthropy. He has gained attention for his generous acts of charity, both within and outside his church community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he made substantial donations to support his church members, staff, and the Nigerian government. His philanthropic efforts have been a subject of both praise and controversy.
Controversies
Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin has faced several controversies throughout his career. He has been criticized for his very public and showy acts of charity, as well as his focus on “deliverance” in his ministry.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he donated about N300 million to staff, members of his church, and the Nigerian government. He also returned tithes and offerings, claiming it was a time of giving back.
Fufeyin faced criticism for allegedly calling himself the first son of T.B. Joshua, which he denied vehemently, stating that he respects all men of God, including T.B. Joshua. Some have referred to him as “Warri TB Joshua,” “Niger Delta TB Joshua,” and “Ijaw TB Joshua,” but he rejected these names, asserting that he is simply Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin.
In April 2017, Fufeyin appeared to defend Suleman Johnson against a sex scandal, describing him as “innocent.” In April 2022, Fufeyin took Pastor Johnmark Ighosotu to court, alleging character defamation and cyber conspiracies following a confession in Ighosotu’s church containing accusations of fraudulent activities against Fufeyin.
On 22 March 2023, Fufeyin’s church was destroyed by fire, and he claimed that the reason for the fire was his disobedience to God’s instruction. In September he also made it clear that he will seek vengeance for Mohbad’s death.
