Rufus Foluso Giwa was born in 1942 in Okeagbe Akoko, a town located in Ondo State, Nigeria. Tragically, he experienced the loss of his father when he was only three months old. Despite this early adversity, Giwa went on to achieve remarkable success in his professional endeavors.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Giwa’s educational journey began at St George’s School in Okeagbe-Akoko from 1948 to 1954. He then attended Secondary Modern School in Omuo, Ishua, and Ikare from 1955 to 1958. Continuing his academic pursuits, he enrolled at Akoko Divisional Teachers Training College from 1959 to 1960. In 1963, Giwa furthered his studies at the University of Lagos, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. Later, in 1987, he pursued advanced studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, USA, earning a Ph.D. Alongside his studies, Giwa also gained teaching experience as a teacher at Local Authority School in Ilepo, Ikare, from 1961- 1963.
