Educational Background
Jimi Agbaje attended St. Gregory’s College in Lagos for his secondary education. He later proceeded to the University of Ife, now known as Obafemi Awolowo University, where he earned a degree in Pharmacy.
Career
Jimi Agbaje began his professional career as a pharmacist before transitioning into politics. He initially engaged in political activism in response to the annulment of the Moshood Abiola/Bashir Tofa presidential election. Agbaje’s political journey started with the Action Congress (AC) but he left to join the Democratic People’s Alliance (DPA) in 2007, where he contested for the governorship of Lagos State. After DPA was deregistered, he joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2011. He ran for governor again under the PDP banner in 2015 and 2019, losing to Akinwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, respectively.

Jimi Agbaje’s political career has not been without controversies. One notable incident was in 2007 when he and ten other aspirants left the Action Congress (AC) over allegations that Governor Bola Tinubu had pre-selected a successor.
