EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

She received her WASSCE from Queens College, Lagos, her LLB degree from the University of Reading, UK, the LLM from the London School of Economics, UK, BL from the Nigeria Law School, Abuja and Ph.D from the University of Abuja, Nigeria.

CAREER

In 2008, she joined the University of Abuja as a Lecturer 2 and became the first female and youngest Head of Department, Faculty of Law in 2014; first female and youngest Vice Dean, Faculty of Law in 2018 and the pioneer Director, University of Abuja. She is the first female Professor of Law in the North West and the University of Abuja.

She is a Member of various professional associations that include: the Nigerian Bar Association, the Nigerian Law Teachers Association and the International Federation of Women Lawyers.

CONTROVERSIES

Following the end of the tenure of Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah as the 6th Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) on June 30, 2024, the Senate of the University has elected Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution pending the inauguration of the University Council and the appointment of a substantive Vice-Chancellor. Her appointment was announced following her nomination at the valedictory Senate meeting held on June 26 2024.
