Born on June 12, 1985, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Chris Young was raised by his parents, Michael and Becky Harris, alongside his siblings, Dorothy Young and Carter Harris. His grandfather, Richard Yates, was a performer on the Louisiana Hayride.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
He attended Oakland High School in Murfreesboro.
CAREER
In 2006, Chris Young gained fame by winning season four of the reality singing competition Nashville Star. He subsequently signed with RCA Records Nashville and released his self-titled debut album, which included the singles “Drinkin’ Me Lonely” and “You’re Gonna Love Me.”
His second album, The Man I Want to Be (2009), featured three number one singles: “Voices,” “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song),” and the title track.
His third album, Neon (2011), produced two more number one hits, “Tomorrow” and “You,” and the top 5 hit “I Can Take It from There.” In 2017, Young was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.
CONTROVERSIES
In January 2024, he was wrongfully arrested by a TABC agent following an altercation in a bar. The charges against him were subsequently dropped.
