Francis Duru was born on August 27, 1969, in Cameroon. Though born outside Nigeria, he was raised by Nigerian parents from Imo State.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Duru pursued his education at the University of Port Harcourt, where he studied Theatre Arts.
CAREER
Francis Duru made his debut in the Nigerian movie industry in 1989 with the film Missing Mark. However, his big break came in 1995 when he starred in the classic Nollywood film Rattle Snake, directed by the late Amaka Igwe.
In addition to his work in film, Duru has also been active in stage acting, participating in several theatre productions that showcase his deep understanding of dramatic arts.
In 2020, he won the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Igbo) award at the Best of Nollywood Awards for his performance in the film Mboputa.He was honored with the United Nations Ambassador of Peace award for his positive influence on the youth and his commitment to societal development.
