Educational Background
Epiphany Azinge received his secondary education at Saint Patrick’s College, Asaba, from 1970 to 1975. He pursued his undergraduate studies in law at the University of Lagos, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1980. Following his call to the Nigerian Bar, Azinge furthered his education at the University of London, where he earned a Master’s degree in Comparative Constitutional Law and Shipping Law in 1983. He later completed a Ph.D. at the London School of Economics, with his thesis focusing on Electoral Laws in Nigeria.
Career
Azinge began his career as a lecturer, teaching at the University of Benin and later at the University of Abuja, where he pioneered the introduction of Information Technology Law in Nigeria in 1996. He also taught at Nasarawa State University.
From 1991 to 1997, Azinge served as Special Assistant to the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Michael Ashikodi Agbamuche. In recognition of his contributions to law, he was elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2006. As Director-General of NIALS from 2009 to 2014, he played a pivotal role in advancing legal research and scholarship in Nigeria.
