Born in 1936, Alhaji Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya was the Emir of Ningi in Bauchi State. Alhaji Danyaya was turbaned as the Emir of Ningi in 1978, becoming a revered and highly respected traditional ruler in the North East Geographical Zone. EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
He embarked on his educational journey at Ningi Elementary School from 1941 to 1946. He continued his studies at Bauchi Middle School until 1951, and subsequently attended the School of Hygiene in Kano. Danyaya furthered his education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned a diploma in Public Administration.
CAREER
Alhaji Danyaya began his career as a dispenser at Nasaru Dispensary in Ningi, but his career quickly evolved as he took on various roles in the Native Authority (NA) system. He served as a member of the Ningi Emirate Council from 1956 to 1960, and as a counselor for the Medical and Health Department from 1958 to 1959. His roles also included membership in the Ningi NA Outer Council (1954-1956), counselor for Works, Police, and Prisons (1959-1960), and member of the Ningi NA Strong Room controllers (1956-1960).
In 1959, Danyaya was turbaned as District Head and Chiroman Ningi, marking the beginning of his journey in royalty. He joined the Nigerian Tobacco Company in Zaria as a welfare officer, serving until 1967, and later worked with the Northern Nigeria Marketing Board as an Assistant Marketing Officer, eventually becoming Assistant Manager in 1968.Danyaya was actively involved in Jama’atu Nasrul Islam, serving on its Finance and General Purpose and Zakkat Committees.
His public service extended to the National Council of States, where he represented Bauchi State Council of Chiefs from 1979 to 1983. He was also Acting Chairman of the defunct Inland Bank Nigeria Plc (1988-1991) and Director at the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (1989-1991).
Additionally, he participated in the National Constitutional Conference (1994-1995) and was a member of the Traditional Rulers Sub-committee of the Vision 2010 committee (1996-1997).
