Born in Lagos State, Nigeria, Oduwole completed her primary and secondary education locally before earning her LL.B. in law from the University of Lagos in 1998, graduating with second-class upper honors. She went on to the Nigerian Law School, where she was called to the bar in 1999.

Her pursuit of further academic excellence led her to the University of Cambridge, where she received an LL.M. in commercial law in 2000 as a DFID-Cambridge Commonwealth Trust scholar. Later, she earned a second master’s degree in international legal studies from Stanford University, where she was also a fellow at the Stanford Center on International Conflict and Negotiation (SCICN).

She achieved her doctorate in international trade and development, focusing on WTO negotiation strategy, from Stanford Law School. Additionally, she has served as a visiting scholar at the University of Houston Law Center from 2008 to 2010.

CAREER

Oduwole’s career includes both academic and governmental roles. She is a Senior Lecturer in International Law at the University of Lagos. Since 2019, she has served as the Special Adviser to the President of Nigeria on Ease of Doing Business, where she leads the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).

Prior to this, she was the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industry, Trade, and Investment from 2015 to 2019, where she played a critical role in establishing the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN).

In recognition of her contributions, Dr. Oduwole received the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 2023. She is also known for her passion for street photography, having exhibited her work in the Netherlands and Nigeria.
