Born Olukemi Olufunto Adegoke on January 2, 1980, in Wimbledon, London, she is one of three children of Nigerian Yoruba parents; her father, Femi Adegoke, was a general practitioner, and her mother, Feyi Adegoke, was a professor of physiology. Badenoch spent part of her childhood in Nigeria before returning to the UK for her education.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
She attended the University of Sussex, where she earned a degree in computer systems engineering. Later, she studied law at Birkbeck, University of London.
CAREER
Before entering politics, Badenoch worked in the IT sector. She began her career as a software engineer at Logica (now part of CGI Group) from 2003 to 2006. She subsequently served as a systems analyst at the Royal Bank of Scotland Group before moving into consultancy and financial services.
Badenoch entered politics and was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Saffron Walden in the 2017 general election.
