Abrewa Nana was born to Isaac Dakwa and Juliana Blankson. Her stage name Abrewa, which translates to old woman in Akan, was inspired by her grandmother, after whom she was named. Raised primarily by her single mother in Accra, she attended primary school in the city before continuing her education at Aggrey Memorial Senior High School.

She later pursued Business Accounting at Takoradi Polytechnic. As a teenager, she admired artists such as Mariah Carey and Aaliyah but became captivated by hiplife—a fusion of hip-hop and highlife music—during her polytechnic years. This passion led her to begin composing her own songs.
