EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

He completed his primary education at St. Thomas Aquinas Primary School, Surulere, Lagos, and his secondary education at Archbishop Aggey Memorial Secondary School, Mushin, Lagos, where he earned his West African School Certificate. He later obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Lagos State University in 2006.

CAREER

Obasa began his political journey as a councilor in Agege Local Government. He was elected to the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2007, representing Agege Constituency I. His strong political influence led to multiple re-elections in 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023. In June 2015, he was elected Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, a position he held until January 2025.

CONTROVERSIES

In 2020, Obasa faced allegations of misappropriation of public funds. Reports by Sahara Reporters claimed he was interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over these allegations. During the interrogation, he allegedly feigned illness, which interrupted proceedings. Though released on bail, he remained under investigation.

On January 13, 2025, Obasa was impeached by the Lagos State House of Assembly for gross misconduct and abuse of office. His deputy, Mojisola Meranda, was immediately elected as his successor.
