Marioo hails from the Wandengereko ethnic group in the Pwani region of Tanzania. During his childhood, he lived with his grandmother in Kibiti, Pwani region, where he completed his primary education. He later moved back to Dar es Salaam to live with his mother, where he attended secondary school.
