Danjuma Tella Laah was born on 18 February 1960 in Tum village, Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State, Nigeria. He was the eighth of nineteen children born into the family of Pa La’ah Tella (Magajin Tum).
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Laah attended Kaduna Polytechnic, where he earned a Certificate in Accounting and Audits in 1994 and an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Audit in 1990. He furthered his studies at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management in 1999 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2009. In 2001, he became a Certified Accountant with the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).
CAREER
Before venturing into politics, Laah had a distinguished career in financial management and accounting. He served in several capacities, including as the Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in Abuja.
Danjuma Laah joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and contested for a seat in the Nigerian Senate. In 2015, he was elected Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District. He was re-elected in 2019, serving two terms (2015–2023) in the 9th National Assembly.
