Joel Ssenyonyi was born on December 20, 1986, at Mulago Hospital in Kampala, Uganda. He hails from Nakasongola District and is the firstborn of his mother’s four children.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

He attended multiple primary schools, including Kazinda Memorial School, Namirembe Infant Primary School, Joy Primary School, and Trinity Academy Primary School in Bukoto, where he completed his Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in 1999.
For secondary education, Ssenyonyi attended St. Lawrence Citizens High School for O-Level and later King’s College Budo for A-Level. He then proceeded to Makerere University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Statistics and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). He later obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre (LDC).
CAREER

Ssenyonyi started his career in journalism during his Senior Six vacation in 2006 as a volunteer at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC), where he later became a news anchor. He also worked at Power FM as a gospel radio host and later joined NTV Uganda, where he became a well-known news anchor and journalist.
In May 2019, Joel Ssenyonyi transitioned into politics, joining the People Power Movement, led by Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), as the official spokesperson. When People Power evolved into a formal political party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), he retained his role as the party spokesperson.
In the 2021 Ugandan general elections, Ssenyonyi was elected as the Member of Parliament for Nakawa West Constituency in Kampala. During his first parliamentary term, he served as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises (COSASE), where he led investigations into government corruption and mismanagement of public funds.
