Sa’adu Abubakar was born on August 24, 1956, in Sokoto, Nigeria, into one of the most revered and historically significant royal families in Nigeria. He is the youngest son of Sultan Sir Siddiq Abubakar III, who served as the 17th Sultan of Sokoto for more than fifty years.

Sa’adu’s family traces its lineage to the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate, Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio (1754–1817), a legendary Islamic scholar and reformer. Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio established the Sokoto Caliphate, which played a critical role in spreading Islam across West Africa.
