Educational Background
Timbaland went to Salem High School in Virginia Beach. During his school years, he began exploring music and became a DJ under the name “DJ Timmy Tim.” It was in high school that he met many of the people who would become his close collaborators in the music industry.

Timbaland grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. His mother worked at a homeless shelter, and his father worked for Amtrak. He has a younger brother, Sebastian, and a sister, Courtney Rashon, who is a makeup artist.
At age 14, he survived a gunshot wound that left him partially paralyzed for several months. During his recovery, he learned how to DJ with one hand.
