Educational Background
Peter Kaluma began his education at Ndiru Primary School, completing his KCPE in 1983. He later joined St. Joseph’s High School in Rapogi and sat for his KCSE exams in 1991.
1996 he enrolled at the University of Nairobi, where he studied Law, earning a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree by 2000. He then proceeded to the Kenya School of Law from 2000 to 2001 for a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. In 2006, he returned to the University of Nairobi to obtain his Master of Laws (LL.M) degree.
Career
Kaluma started his legal journey as a pupil at Lumumba & Mumma Advocates between 2000 and 2001. After that, he worked at B. M. Musau & Co. Advocates in Nairobi as an associate lawyer from 2002 to 2003. In 2004, he became a partner at Lumumba, Mumma & Kaluma Advocates, a position he held until 2012.
During this period, he taught law at Kabarak University, Kenya School of Law, and the University of Nairobi. In March 2013, he was elected to the National Assembly as the MP for Homa Bay Town and has been re-elected in subsequent elections.

Additionally, in 2025, after Kenya lost the African Union Commission chairmanship bid, Kaluma threatened to push for the withdrawal of the East African Community from the African Union.
