Educational Background

Benjamin Tanimu’s formal education history is not made public, like many Nigerian footballers, he likely combined schooling with early football development in his local community in Benin City.
Career

Tanimu began his professional career with Bendel Insurance FC in 2018, playing for the club based in his hometown. After several seasons in the Nigerian league, he moved abroad in early 2024 to join Ihefu FC, a club in Tanzania, which later became known as Singida Black Stars.
Later that same year, in September 2024, he made a move to England, signing a two-year deal with Crawley Town, an EFL League One club. He reportedly joined the club and made his debut for them in October during a match against Reading.
However, after just one season and 10 appearances, Tanimu decided to leave Crawley Town following their relegation. He ended his contract early and completed a move to a Moroccan club on July 4, 2025. He is expected to play a key role in their defense going forward.
Before making it to the senior team, Tanimu had played for Nigeria’s Under-23 side. His first call-up to the Super Eagles came in March 2024 for international friendlies against Ghana and Mali. He made his debut on March 22, 2024, starting in a 2–1 win over Ghana. Since then, he has earned three caps for the national team.
Controversies

Benjamin Tanimu’s early contract termination at Crawley Town raised a few eyebrows, but reports suggest it was a mutual decision following the club’s relegation. Also, his sudden move from Crawley Town to Morocco raised questions in the football community.
After joining the English club just months earlier, he terminated his contract early despite having a deal that was supposed to run until 2026. The unexpected switch to MAS Fes in Morocco led to mixed reactions, with some fans and analysts surprised by the decision, especially since it followed Crawley’s relegation.
