
Ubi Ekapong Ofem, better known as Ubi Franklin, is a Nigerian music executive, entrepreneur, politician, and show host. He was born on 2 February 1986 in Calabar, Cross River State. He is the founder of the record label Made Men Music Group (Triple MG) and the online businesses Instant Pickup and Instant Apartment. Over the years, he has managed some of Nigeria’s top music stars and also served as Special Adviser on Tourism to Cross River State Governor, Benedict Ayade.

Career

Ubi Franklin career in entertainment started behind the scenes, working as an assistant to comedian Julius Agwu and later with AY Makun. He moved into music promotions and, by 2010, became the manager of singer Iyanya, helping him rise to fame with the hit single Kukere.
Through his record label Triple MG, Ubi managed and signed artists like Tekno, Emma Nyra, and Selebobo, making the label one of the biggest in Nigeria at the time. In 2016, he won the City People Music Award for Music Manager of the Year.
Aside from entertainment, Ubi has ventured into business. In 2017, he launched Instant Pickup, a laundry service with online booking, followed by Instant Apartment, a platform for luxury short-let rentals.
In 2018, he also introduced Instant Ryde, a taxi service in Calabar and Uyo. In 2020, he was appointed as Special Adviser on Tourism to Governor Benedict Ayade. He is also a regular speaker at business and youth empowerment events across Nigeria.
Controversies

Ubi Franklin has had his share of controversies. In 2025, he was accused online of stealing a luxury wristwatch during singer Davido’s wedding in Miami. He strongly denied the allegation, explaining that he bought a watch from a seller named Benny and paid in full. Benny later confirmed his statement, and the story was dismissed as a false rumour. Earlier in his life, Ubi also survived a near-death incident at a Lagos furniture store, where he was attacked but saved by his cousin.

Personal Life

Ubi Franklin is the 11th child out of 15 siblings. He got married to actress Lilian Esoro in 2015, and they have a son named Jayden (born July 2016). Over the years, he has had other relationships and now has four children in total two sons (Jayden and Shiloh) and two daughters (Zaneta and Ariella).
He has openly spoken about battling depression between 2016 and 2017, a period he described as one of the hardest in his life. In 2025, Ubi lost his elder sister, whom he described as one of his biggest supporters. At her burial, he was joined by his ex-wife Lilian Esoro and ex-partner Sandra Iheuwa, showing a strong co-parenting bond.
