Educational Background
Ajayi began his early education at Community High School, Kiribo, before moving to Methodist High School, Okitipupa. He later studied Law at Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, graduating with a Second Class Upper degree. In 2010, he was called to the Nigerian Bar after completing his studies at the Nigerian Law School, Abuja.
Career
Before venturing fully into politics, Ajayi worked as a businessman and later established himself in law. His political journey took shape when he represented Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011. In 2017, he became Deputy Governor of Ondo State under Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
His time in office was marked by party switches. He left the All Progressives Congress (APC) in June 2020 after falling out with Governor Akeredolu, describing the APC as a “poisoned space.” He first defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but after losing the governorship primary, he joined the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) led by former governor Olusegun Mimiko, where he contested the 2020 governorship election.

Their political differences spilled into the open, leading to confrontations that made national headlines.
