Odira Nwobu was a Nigerian actor, comedian and content creator who became well-known for his funny roles and baby-faced look. He was born on 24 May 1982 and was originally from Umubelle village in Awka, Anambra State, although some reports say he grew up in Enugu. He passed away in South Africa on 24 November 2025 at the age of 43 while on a promotional trip with a group of influencers. His sudden death shocked fans and colleagues across Nigeria.
Educational Background

Odira Nwobu attended Command Day Secondary School in Enugu. He had hoped to study Theatre Arts afterwards, but he could not continue with the plan because of financial challenges. Despite that setback, he still found his way into acting shortly after finishing secondary school.
Career

Odira joined Nollywood in the early 2000s and quickly became known for his natural comedy style. His first major role was in the movie Joseph the Dreamer, which helped introduce him to the public. Over the years, he acted in more than 60 films, including Goat Lover, Home Alone, Family Saga, Village Rats, Wayward Father, and Ikpo.
When he started feeling boxed into the same type of roles, he opened up another lane for himself online. He created comedy skits for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, where he gained hundreds of thousands of followers.
He also featured in music videos and commercials, working with top Igbo artistes like Phyno and Flavour.
Controversies

Odira did not have many scandals, but he was often the subject of false rumours. In July 2025, he survived a bad road accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, and many people wrongly posted online that he had died. Videos of his lifeless body also circulated on social media after his real death in South Africa, causing outrage and sadness.
