EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Abiru obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Economics from Lagos State University (LASU). To strengthen his professional competence, he attended several executive and leadership programs at Lagos Business School and Harvard Business School. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
CAREER

Abiru built a distinguished career in Nigeria’s financial sector before transitioning into politics. He began his banking career at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), where he gained early exposure to corporate and commercial banking. Abiru entered politics in 2020 and won the Lagos East Senatorial bye-election, becoming a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
