Segun Julius Agbaje (born July 19, 1964) is a Nigerian banker and business executive. He was born in Lagos State, Nigeria, into a professional family; his father, Chief Julius Kosebinu Agbaje, was a banker, while his mother, Margaret Olabisi Agbaje, was a teacher. He is also the younger brother of Lagos politician Jimi Agbaje.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Segun Agbaje attended St Gregory’s College in Lagos and St Augustine Academy in Kent, England, for his secondary education. He later obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of San Francisco, United States. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
CAREER

Segun Agbaje began his professional career at Ernst & Young in San Francisco, where he worked as an auditor before returning to Nigeria. In 1991, he joined Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) as a pioneer staff member and rose steadily through the ranks. He became Executive Director in 2000 and Deputy Managing Director in 2002. In 2011, he was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Bank following the death of the bank’s co-founder, Tayo Aderinokun.
In August 2021, Agbaje became the Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (GTCO), the parent company of GTBank and its subsidiaries. Under his leadership, the bank expanded across Africa and strengthened its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions. Beyond GTCO, he serves as a director of PepsiCo and a member of the Mastercard Advisory Board for the Middle East and Africa.
