Educational Background

Ahmad Abubakar had his primary school education at Ganye 1 Primary School, Ganye, which he completed in 1975. He later attended the North East College of Agricultural Science in Maiduguri before gaining admission to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying in 1980. He followed this up with a Master’s degree in Construction Management from the same institution. He is also a holder of a Facility Management Professional (FMP) certificate from the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), USA, and a Certified Public Private Partnership Professional (IP3) from Washington DC.
Career

Before venturing into politics, Senator Abubakar carved out an impressive career in facility management and construction. He is the Chairman of Integrated Facility Management Services Ltd (IFMSL), a leading indigenous facility management company involved in the rehabilitation and management of government facilities. Some notable facilities managed by his company include Eagles Square Abuja, Murtala Mohammed Square Kaduna, the Kaduna International Trade and Investment Centre, and the Nigerian Export and Import Bank building in Abuja.
He was the pioneer President of the International Facility Management Association in Nigeria (IFMAN), Abuja Chapter. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management Consultants (NIMC), and a Fellow of the Association of Facility Management Practitioners of Nigeria (AFMPN).
In politics, his journey began with the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
He later became a foundation member of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in 2009 and subsequently one of the founding members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2013. In 2015, he won the Adamawa South Senatorial polls and was elected to represent the district in the 8th National Assembly.
During his time in the Senate, he served as Vice-Chairman of the Culture and Tourism Committee and the Gas Committee. He was also a member of the Senate Committee on Bureaus of Public Procurement and a member of the ECOWAS Parliament.
