Joseph was born into a Muslim family and was originally named Abubakar Sadiq Momodu. In 1999, following his father’s conversion to Christianity, he also embraced the Christian faith and adopted the name Joseph Momodu. Although he hails from Edo State, he was born and raised in Surulere, Lagos, where he spent most of his childhood.

Joseph Momodu attended KennyT Nursery and Primary School, Adisa Bashua Primary School, and Lagos Progressive Senior Secondary School, all in Surulere, Lagos. He later proceeded to Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Mass Communication.
