APOSTLE AROME BIOGRAPHY
Arome Osayi was born on December 2, 1977, in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. He is the fifth of seven children born to Chief Paul Ameh Osayi, a civil servant, and Mrs. Mamuna Osayi, a nurse. He was raised in a Christian family, he gave his life to Christ at the age of seven while attending Sunday school. Arome was born with facial palsy, which affected his speech and partially paralysed one side of his face. He says that at about age 13, he experienced an encounter with Jesus Christ after which his speech was restored and he became convinced of his calling to ministry.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Apostle Arome Osayi studied Chemistry at Benue State University, Makurdi, graduating with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Chemistry in 2002. After his university education, he completed the mandatory National Youth Service programme in Kano State. In 2024, he received an honorary doctorate in Missiology, Social Engagement and Advocacy from ECWA Theological Seminary, Jos.
CAREER
Before dedicating himself fully to ministry, Arome worked in Nigeria’s petroleum regulatory sector. In 2004, he joined the then Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) as one of its pioneer staff members. According to his official biography, he remained in the organisation for approximately 16 years while simultaneously pursuing his Christian ministry.
Arome Osayi received what he describes as an apostolic mandate in October 2002, following his university education and national service. The mandate centred on strengthening and promoting the recovery of apostolic Christianity within the Church. In December 2006, he founded the Remnant Christian Network (RCN). The organisation has its headquarters in Makurdi and has developed apostolic centres and ministry outreaches in different parts of Nigeria and internationally.
Arome has also authored several Christian books, including Kingdom Recalibration, Birthing His Excellence, Go Into All the World, Choice: Man’s Most Important Power, Godward, An Epistle to the Apostles in the Marketplace and A Treatise on Christian Ministry.
CONTROVERSIES
Arome Osayi’s ministry has attracted significant attention within Nigerian Pentecostal and apostolic Christian circles, particularly because of his teachings on prayer, spiritual warfare, apostolic Christianity and the supernatural.
Apostle Arome Osayi attracted renewed public attention in September 2026 amid his ongoing public feud with activist Verydarkman (VDM). An old video resurfaced online in which Osayi claimed that he had commanded rainfall to stop during an outdoor preaching meeting in Port Harcourt, allowing the event to continue. He also claimed that a woman who had been deaf for 30 years regained her hearing during the meeting. The claims generated mixed reactions and debate online, with some Nigerians questioning the assertions. The controversy was further fueled by comments VDM made about the cleric, which prompted Bishop Ibro Zion to publicly criticise the activist and accuse him of crossing a line in his remarks about Osayi.
