Carlo Acutis was born in London, England, on 3 May 1991, to Andrea Acutis and Antonia Salzano, who were members of wealthy Italian families. He was baptized on 18 May 1991 in the Church of Our Lady of Dolours, Chelsea.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Carlo had his primary education at San Carlo institute in September 1997, September 2002, he received his middle school education at the Marcelline Tommaseo Institute, run by the Sisters of St. Marcellina. From there, Acutis went on to the Jesuit Instituto Leone XIII high school.
CAREER
At the age of 12, Carlo Acutis became a catechist in his parish, Santa Maria Segreta. During a visit to Meteora, he explored an Eastern Orthodox church, where he met hieromonks and observed the faithful venerating icons on the iconostasis. In February 2005, Acutis visited Lourdes, France, for the first time.
He was well-known for his cheerfulness, exceptional computer skills, and deep devotion to the Eucharist. Carlo also showed a keen interest in the lives of saints, often drawing inspiration from their stories to deepen his own faith and spiritual practices.
CONTROVERSIES
Acutis was beatified by Pope Francis on 10 October 2020, two days before the 14th anniversary of his death. On 23 May 2024, Pope Francis recognized a miracle attributed to the intercession of Acutis, clearing the way for him to become the first canonized millennial in the Catholic Church.
