Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed was a Ghanaian politician and a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He was later appointed Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry from 2014 to 2017.
He was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Nanton Constituency in the 2012 elections. However, he lost the seat in 2016 but made a political comeback in 2020 when he won the seat for the Tamale Central Constituency.

DEATH
On August 6, 2025, Muhammed tragically lost his life in a military helicopter crash while en route to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region for an anti-galamsey (illegal mining) campaign. The Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter he was aboard went down in the Adansi Akrofuom District. All eight individuals on board perished in the crash. Among the victims were the Minister of Defence, Edward Omane Boamah; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; NDC Vice Chairman, Samuel Sarpong; former parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye; Pilot Squadron Leader, Peter Bafemi Anala; Co-Pilot Flying Officer, Manaen Twum Ampadu; and Crew Member, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
