
Bola Oyebamiji born 17 November 1965 is a Nigerian politician and banker. He is the current Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA). Before his appointment, he served as Commissioner for Finance in Osun State during the administrations of former governors Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola. He also headed Omoluabi Holdings Limited, formerly known as Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL).

Educational Background

He started his education at A.D.C Primary School, Oke-Ada, Ikire (1971–1977) and later attended Ayedaade Grammar School, Ikire (1978–1982), where he obtained his Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
He studied Banking and Finance at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, earning both his Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND). Oyebamiji went further to earn a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Lagos State University in 1997, and later a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ado-Ekiti in 2004.
Career

Oyebamiji began his banking career in 1987 at Wema Bank Plc, where he worked in the International Banking Division. He later joined Trans International Bank Plc in Ikeja, Lagos, in 1998 as a Senior Manager and rose to the position of Head of Lagos Region in 2003. In 2005, he moved to Spring Bank Plc as Head of Business Development, and in 2009, he became Head of Retail Business at Enterprise Bank Limited in Lagos.
His shift into public service came in 2012 when he was appointed Managing Director/CEO of Osun State Investment Company Limited under Governor Rauf Aregbesola. He later became Osun State Commissioner for Finance, a role he also held under Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
In 2018, he contested for the Osun governorship ticket under the All Progressives Congress (APC) but withdrew from the race. In 2023, he was named Special Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy before his appointment as CEO of NIWA by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Controversies

While in office, Oyebamiji has been linked to debates about Osun State’s finances. Some critics accused the administration he served in of financial mismanagement, though he often defended the government’s record. In 2018, his decision to step down from the APC governorship race also drew attention within political circles.
More recently, he criticized the current Osun State government for what he described as poor infrastructure development despite available resources, sparking reactions from political opponents.
