Educational Background
Sadiq Khan attended Fircroft Primary School and Ernest Bevin School in Tooting. Initially, he wanted to study dentistry, but one of his teachers suggested law because of his outspoken nature. Inspired by this advice and the TV show L.A. Law, Khan chose to study law at the University of North London (now London Metropolitan University), where he earned his degree.
Career
After university, Khan worked as a solicitor specialising in human rights. He spent several years fighting for fairness and equality and later became the chair of Liberty, a major human rights organisation in the UK.
Khan joined the Labour Party and served as a councillor for the London Borough of Wandsworth from 1994 to 2006. In 2005, he was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tooting. Khan married Saadiya Ahmed, who is also a solicitor, in 1994. They have two daughters who were both raised in the Islamic faith.
