Educational Background

Ibrahim is from Ondo State and studied Law at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he earned his LLB degree. He also completed a Master of Public Administration (MPA) at the same university. He later moved to the United States for further studies at Harvard University, obtaining a combined Master of Laws (LLM) and Master’s in International Taxation. In July 2022, he received a Business Doctorate (BusD) from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
Career

Jimoh Ibrahim started his career as a lawyer but soon expanded into business, building Global Fleet Group, which operates in sectors like oil and gas distribution, aviation, banking, insurance, real estate, hospitality, publishing, and more.
He also ventured into politics. In 2003, he ran for governor of Ondo State under the ANPP, although he did not win. He later returned to active politics and was elected senator for Ondo South in 2023. Apart from business and politics, he is an author of three books and the publisher of the National Mirror Newspaper.
Controversies

Over the years, Ibrahim has faced several allegations and legal issues. Between 2013 and 2015, Sahara Reporters published multiple stories accusing him of financial misconduct. On 11 November 2020, the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria AMCON secured a court order to freeze his bank accounts and seize some of his assets over an outstanding debt of about ₦69.4 billion.
