This is so because of the money that most footballers earn these days. Here is a list of the top five highest paid footballers in Nigeria.

1. Odion Ighalo:

 

The Nigerian professional footballer waw born on June 16, 1988. He plays as a striker for the Chinese club, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua and the Nigerian national. He is the highest paid Nigerian footballer as he receives a weekly income of £190,000.

2. John Mikel Obi:

 

This is the second highest paid Nigerian footballer. He receives a weekly income of £140,000. He was born on 22 April, 1987. He plays as a midfielder and currently plays for the English club, Middlesbrough and the Nigerian national team.

3. Kelechi Iheanacho:

 

He was born on the 3rd of October, 1996. He plays for the Premier League club, Leicester city and the Nigerian national team. He plays on the forward position. He is the third highest paid Nigerian footballer as he earns a weekly sum of £115,000.

4. Obafemi Martins:

 

Obafemi was born on the 28th of October 1984. He has over the years played for various clubs around Europe. He stopped playing for the Chinese super league, Shanghai Shenhua in 2018 after he suffered a partial rupture of tendon of quadriceps femoris at his right knee. He earns £100,000 weekly.

5. Ahmed Musa:

 

He was born on the 14th of October 1992. He plays as a forward and left winger for Saudi Arabian team Al-Nassr and the Nigerian national team. He is the fifth highest paid Nigerian footballer as he earns £60,000 weekly.
