Career and Musics

Burna Boy started his music career in 2010 but came to the limelight in 2012 following his hit single “Like to Party”.

Burna Boy signed under Aristokrat Record Label where he released his mixtape Burna Boy Identity in 2011.

In 2013, Burna Boy released his debut album Leaving an Impact for Eternity (LIFE). With Guest appearances from 2face Idibia, M.I, Timaya, Olamide, Reminisce and Wizkid, LIFE had five track list Like to Party, Tonight, Always Love You,Run My Race and Yawa Dey. Today LIFE ranks as the number 10 on the list of top 12 Album in 2013.

In 2014, Burna Boy left Aristokrat Record Label to open his own record label Spaceship Entertainment.

In 2015, Burna Boy released his second music album “On a Spaceship” In September 2016, he released the 7-track EP Redemption.

In January 2018, Burna Boy released his third album Outside. Outside consists mostly of Afrobeats, dancehall, reggae and road rap.

In February, Outside debuted number 3 on billboard reggae album chart. The Album won the Album of the year in the 2018 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

In October 2018, Burna Boy was announced as one of Spotify’s New Afro Hub Takeover Artist.

In March. 2019, Burna Boy released Steel and Corper, a 4-track collaborative EP with Los Angeles based electronic duo DJDS.

In July 2019, Burna Boy released his fourth music album “African Giant”. He also featured in “Ja Ara E” (Yoruba: “wise up” or “use your head”) for Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift and was the only guest artist with their own track on the soundtrack album.

In 2013, Burna Boy’s Like to Party was nominated for Best Pop in South South Music Awards and Best New Act of the Year in the Nigerian Entertainment Awards. He won the two awards.

In 2014, Burna Boy won the best album of the year in the Nigerian Entertainment Awards.

In 2015, Burna Boy won Listener’s Choice, Song of the Year, Best Male MVP and the African Artiste of the Year in the Soundcity MVP Awards festival. He also won the best international act in BET Awards.

He also won the song of the year with his hit single “Ye” and artist of the year in the 2015 Headies Award.

In 2019, Burna Boy won the best collabo with Zlatan in the 2019 Headies Award and the Artist of the Year in the African Muzik Magazine Awards.
