Chimamanda Adichie attended University of Nigeria Secondary School, Nsukka. After her secondary education, she gained admission to study Medicine and Pharmacy at the University of Nigeria.

Career and Books
Chimamanda Adichie started writing at a young age. While in the university, she was an editor for The Compass, a magazine run by the university’s Catholic medical students.
In 1998, Chimamanda Adichie published her play ‘For Love of Biafra’. It was one of her earliest works in which she explored the war in the late 1960s between Nigeria and its secessionist Biafra republic.
In 2003, she started writing her first novel Purple Hibiscus. Purple Hibiscus garnered the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize in 2005 for Best First Book (Africa) and that year’s Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best First Book (overall).
