Karim Ouellet was adopted by a Canadian diplomat when he was a year old and lived in France, Rwanda and Tunisia where he studied briefly before returning to Quebec, Canada.

At 7, Karim Ouellet composed and recorded his first song. He later started playing guitar for local bands when he was a teenager.

In 2005, he met Claude Bégin and they began working together. The duo wrote the first three albums of Karim Ouellet.
In 2011, Karim Ouellet released his debut album “Plume” and finished second place in Francouvertes competition same year. He performed in Francofolies de La Rochelle, Osheaga, and SXSW festivals.
In 2012, Karim Ouellet released his second album “Fox”. Fox trended in Canada and beyond and earned him nominations and awards including the Félix Awards in 2013, Best Male Singer, Best Single for “L’Amour” and Pop Album of the Year.
Karim Ouellet was also designated as best new artist by Radio-Canada that year. He won the Juno Award for Francophone Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2014.
