Prior to joining politics, he worked with Skyfrost Nigeria Limited.
In 2023, Chidi Obetta defeated Vita Abba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to be elected as a member representing Igbo-Eze South/Nsukka Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives under the platform of the Labour Party.

Chidi Obetta is married with children. He is a Christian of Igbo origin.
