Tony Nwoye is a Nigerian politician, a former member of the Nigerian House of Representatives representing the people of Anambra East/West constituency of Anambra state.
Tony Nwoye was also a former Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2013 Anambra State gubernatorial election and was also a gubernatorial candidate of the APC in the 2017 Anambra State gubernatorial election. He is currently a member of the Labour Party and he won the senatorial seat for the Anambra North district, in the recent senatorial election.

Educational Background
Tony Nwoye had his early education at Metropolitan Secondary School Onitsha, then he furthered to the prestigious College of Medicine at the University Of Nigeria. Tony Nwoye furthered his quest for medical training at the College of Medicine, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki.
Career
Tony Nwoye is a Nigerian politician, a medical doctor, and a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing the people of Anambra East/West constituency of Anambra state. He was a former Governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2013 election in Anambra state and was also a gubernatorial candidate of the APC in the 2017 Anambra State gubernatorial election.
Tony Nwoye is currently a member of the Labour Party he started his political career as a medical student where he functioned in different capacities as a leader. He was noted to have fought for the student union and later became the first medical student to become the speaker of the student union house of representative at the university of Nigeria.
He received an award from the then Vice Chancellor, Prof Ginigeme Mbanefo, for the role he played in fighting cultism in the school. He became the national president in December 2003, then rose to state power as Assistant Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Anambra State PDP in 2005 and by 2006 at the age of 31.
Tony Nwoye became the Chairman of the State Executive Committee of the Anambra State PDP making him the youngest State Chairman of a major political party in the entire nation. In 2014 he unsuccessfully contested the Anambra State election under PDP.
In 2015, he won a case at the Election Tribunal over the APGA (All Progressive Grand Alliance) candidate, Peter Madubueze, to become the representative for Anambra East and West in the Federal House of Representatives. In 2016, Nwoye left PDP and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Controversies
In 2017 when he was contesting for Anambra State gubernatorial election, Nigerians on Twitter criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Tony Nwoye, for his poor performance during the Anambra State governorship debate, organized by Channels Television.
Following that a document in the report showed details of how House of Representatives member and APC aspirant, Honourable Tony Nwoye reportedly signed an agreement to give 30% of Anambra state’s Internally Generated Revenue to prominent billionaire businessman, Prince Arthur Eze, in other to aid him to win the election.
