In 2019, he was elected into the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria replacing David Mark, a two-term senate president (6th and 7th Assembly) and one of the longest serving Senators in Nigeria.

Educational Background
Abba Moro Patrick had his primary education at LGEA special Primary School, Odessassa between 1963 and 1969. He later attended Emmanuel Secondary School at Ugbokolo from 1969 to 1974 before he proceeded to Federal Government College, Kano where he obtained a Higher School Certificate (HSC) in 1975.
Abba Moro Patrick proceeded to the University of Lagos where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (B. sc) degree in Political Science and a Master of Science (M. sc) degree in Public Administration in 1980 and 1983 respectively.
Career
Abba Moro Patrick began his academic career at Benue State Polytechnic as a lecturer where he served as Head of the Department of General Studies for one year (1991-1992), and Head of the Department of Public Administration for four years (1992-1996) and later as dean of studies, School of Business and Administration Studies.
Abba Moro Patrick served in that capacity for two years (1994-1996). He was later elected as chairman of the Benue State Polytechnic chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria. He served in that capacity for four years (1980 – 1984) before he was elected as the National President of the Polytechnic Senior Staff of Nigeria in 1986.
Abba Moro Patrick was elected Chairman of the Okpokwu Local Government Council in 1998. And the honorable Minister of the Federal Ministry Of Interior. Abba Moro Patrick has received many awards ranging from the peacemaker Award by MOO in Idoma land Otukpo, the Award of Excellent contribution to education and development by National PTA, the Award for distinction in Industrial Development by NULGE Benue State Chapter, and the Benue State Council NUT Honours Award Makurdi for the Best performing LGA Chairman 2001.
Abba Moro Patrick retained his seat in the Benue South in the 2023 senatorial election. Abba Moro Patrick won his closest challenger, Dan Onjeh of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to retain his seat in the Red Chamber.
Controversies
Abba Moro Patrick is a controversial man who was accused of using the increase in the new fees charged for the Nigerian passport, and he also formulated a new policy that would effectively extort billions from unsuspecting Nigerians every month.
He was alleged to illegally contracted a cargo forwarding and courier company, Greater Washington Limited, to deliver passports to applicants at the cost of N2,000. The fee has been built into the new fee of N19,550 charged for the Nigerian passport and every applicant is forced to pay the money.
Abba Moro Patrick, also raised alarm over the assassination attempt on his life and other supporters of David Mark by four unidentified gunmen. He was also in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), answering questions over the recruitment scandal, which led to the death of about 20 applicants in March 2014.
Abba Moro Patrick is also being held for the N520 million compulsory level collected from the 520,000 candidates that applied for the 5,000 slots at the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
