Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is a Nigerian politician who was born on October 27, 1967. He currently serves as the governor of Adamawa State, having been elected in 2019. Fintiri previously served as a member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly and was also the Speaker of the Assembly.
Ahmadu Fintiri became the acting governor of Adamawa State in 2014 following the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako. Fintiri held several leadership positions in the House of Assembly before being elected Speaker, a position he held until 2015.

Educational Background
Fintiri attended Bachure Primary School in Jimeta, Adamawa State, and later proceeded to Adamawa State Polytechnic in Yola, where he obtained a National Diploma in Management. He furthered his studies at the University of Maiduguri, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration.
Career
Fintiri started his political career in 2007 when he was elected to represent the Madagali Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly. He held several leadership positions in the House before being elected Speaker, a position he held until 2015. In 2014, he became acting governor of Adamawa State following the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako.
Ahmadu Fintiri later delegated control to Bala James Ngilari after three months. In 2019, Fintiri ran for governor of Adamawa State and was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He won the election after a by-election held on March 29, 2019, having secured 376,552 votes to defeat incumbent Bindo Jibrilla of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 336,386 votes.
Controversies
Fintiri has been embroiled in a few controversies during his political career. In 2014, he was accused of misappropriating funds meant for the development of his constituency. However, he denied the allegations and was later cleared of any wrongdoing by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Ahmadu Fintiri is married to Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, and they have three children. In 2020, he lost his mother Hajiya Fatima Umar Badami, who died after a long illness at the Federal Medical Centre in Yola.
